The Colt-Baxter Steam Engine

The Baxter engine, also currently called the Colt-Baxter steam engine, was patented in 1868 by William Baxter. Colt's Fire Arms Manufacturing Co. began producing it in 1871. Colt's now defunct "History of Colt" page did not mention Baxter or his engine, nor does Wikipedia's history of Colt.

A great deal of work has been done on it since.
